Driving on a Revoked License

Have You Lost Your License Due to Excess Alcohol or Refusing a Chemical Test?

There are a number of ways your driver’s license can be revoked in Colorado. If you were driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level over .08 (over .02 if under 21) or you refused chemical testing of your blood or breath, your driver’s license may be revoked. The penalties for driving with a revoked driver’s license are severe and may impact your life for a long time to come.

We recommend you consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney if you have been arrested for driving while under revocation, that is, driving with a revoked or suspended driver’s license. Your freedom and your rights depend on it. Each DWI defense lawyer at Daniel, Thom & Katzman, P.C. has more than 30 years of experience in practice, and is dedicated to defending people accused of driving under revocation.

If your license was revoked due to excessive alcohol for the first time, you may request an early reinstatement from the Department of Motor Vehicles after one month of no driving. In order to qualify, you will need to have an Ignition Interlock Device installed in every vehicle you drive for eight months, two years if your BAC was over .170. Please visit our Ignition Interlock page for additional information about the interlock device.

It is tempting to drive on a revoked driver’s license, but the penalties are severe. At your arrest, you could be required to post a $10,000 bond, and your vehicle may be impounded. It is a misdemeanor offense, punishable by five days to six months in the county jail, with a fine of $50 to $500, as well as an extension of the revocation of your driver’s license, if convicted. The goal of our attorneys is to provide timely counsel for a positive outcome. We cannot protect your rights unless you call.
